Kenya Premier League champions Tusker FC continued their torrid start to the new season with a 2-1 loss to newly promoted Talanta FC on Wednesday.

The brewers have now lost both of their opening games and sit at the bottom of the table without a point to their name.

The game was Talanta’s fourth of the campaigna and they remain unbeaten in fifth place with 8 points.

Francis Kahiro scored a brace, either side of a Jackson Macharia effort to inspire the newcomers second win on the bounce as they continue their perfect KPL debut.

“Lack of concentration on marking, how can one person get the ball against three people? We have to work hard to correct the mistakes. We cannot be repeating the same mistakes every day.

“The two losses against Leopards and Talanta are giving me pressure, but historically, Tusker struggle in the first two league matches. It has been there, but we will come out stronger because we have to rectify our mistakes,” head coach Robert Matano lamented.

Elsewhere, record Kenyan league winners Gor Mahia FC made it three wins from as many games with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Kariobangi Sharks.

Bernard Omalla and Patrick Lwasa scored the goals as Gor shot to second place on the table with 9 points, level with league leaders Nairobi City Stars FC.

K’Ogalo are poised to take charge of the table when they face Sofapaka FC on Saturday as they seek to claim a record-extending league title.
