FC Talanta remained atop the National Super League (NSL) standings and is leading the race to win the two automatic FKF Premier League promotion slots despite losing their round 20 match against Kisumu All Stars in Kisumu.

Talanta went down 2-1 to hosts Kisumu All Stars at Moi Stadium, a result that saw them lose their grip on top of the table.

Kevintom Michieka and Alfred Emoni first half strikes were enough to hand All Stars all the three points and condemn Talanta to their fifth defeat of the season.

Kenya Police failed to capitalize on Talanta’s slip bu treduced the gap to within one point after their 1-1 stalemate against former premier league side Mt. Kenya United.

The draw saw Police FC remain second with 36 points, one behind leaders Talanta FC.

Vihiga Bullets also missed the chance to close in on the top teams after a barren draw against visiting Mwatate United saw them drop to fourth in the standings with 32 points, same as MCF who went third with a greater goal difference after their 3-2 win over Coast Stima.

Vihiga Bullets coach Edward Manoah bemoaned the missed chances by his forwards in the entire game. Striker Mulaki Musyoka failed to convert a penalty in the 83rd minute.

In Migori, Migori Youth avenged their first leg lose to Kisumu Hot Stars by defeating the visitors 2-0 to move level on points with the lakeside outfit with 25 points.

In other matches, relegation threatened Soy United lost their ninth game of the season after going down 2-1 to a resurgent Kibera Black Stars who went joint third in the standings with 32 points.

Nairobi Stima however secured a 3-1 win over Gusii United but it was not enough to see them out of the red zone as the remained 18th in the log with 22 points

On Sunday, round 21 matches will kick off with Kisumu Hot Stars seeking redemption against Gusii FC in Kisumu, wounded Mt Kenya and Soy hosting Migori Youth and Kisumu All Stars respectively as Talanta entertain Kibera Black Stars in a top of the table affair.
