Football Kenya Federation (FKF) caretaker committee has dismissed as fake a six-month Sh875m budget attributed to it, saying it was yet to sit down and come up with a budget.

Addressing the media at Kenya National Library on Saturday, head of secretariat Linda Oguttu told Kenyans to ignore the reports, adding that the team was still developing a work plan before it can talk about the budget.

“You cannot have a budget before you finish the work plan, the budget that you are seeing on social media being attributed to the committee is not ours,” said Oguttu.

“We are still at the work plan stage where we are trying to figure out how we will do this work in six months,” she added.

Kenyans were left angry after the inflated budget claimed to be from the new team emerged online on Friday.

From the fake budget, airtime for the team was to gobble up Sh2.4 million in six months while sitting allowance was to consume Sh14.4 million.

Oguttu also denied reports that one of the secretariat members had been de-gazetted, saying the team was intact.

“As long as long as you have not seen the de-gazettement notice, treat that as rumours, I still have my full secretariat intact,” she said.

The committee also said the league will resume next week when the suspension of the football activities expires.

“By next week, the league should start, we are looking to have meetings with the stakeholders to put everything in order,” he said.

Committee member Ali Amour said the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) will be tasked to run the league.

“We will talk with KPL which is a league entity and hold a meeting with clubs to reach a consensus and agree on the smooth running of the league,” said Amour.

The 15-member committee was formed on November 11 by Sports CS Amina Mohamed to run football after she disbanded Nick Mwendwa-led FKF after receiving the federation’s audit report.
