Kenyan activist Kasmuel Mcoure has responded to President Ruto’s remarks about youths failing to attend a Twitter Space session they had initiated. The session was intended to discuss how to improve Kenya, but the youths did not show up, leading to criticism from the President.
Kasmuel, who has been prominently opposing the 2024 Finance Bill, clarified that the youths had not invited the President to the Twitter Space. Instead, they were demanding concrete actions from the government.
“The President has no business being in an (X) Twitter space. We did not invite him to the (X) space. What we said was to stop killing us, stop brutalizing us, stop arresting us, and tell us where the abductees were taken. We wanted action, and he decided to be in cahoots. That is why that damn space has given him the confidence to say we were afraid. We were not afraid,” Kasmuel asserted.

He emphasized that the President had misunderstood their intentions. The youths wanted the government to address their grievances rather than engage in discussions on social media.
“We boycotted the space because he was not acting at the time,” Kasmuel explained.
Kasmuel expressed his disappointment with President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza Government, criticizing their priorities. He argued that the government is focusing on less urgent matters instead of addressing critical issues like healthcare and education.
“The only thing this government is good at is saying that Tumepanga, Tumetenga, and Na Tunasema are obsessed with building churches instead of hospitals and schools,” Kasmuel remarked.
The activist’s statements reflect the growing frustration among Kenyan youths with the current administration’s response to their concerns.
