Prominent businessman Jimi Wanjigi was released on Tuesday after securing a Ksh 10 million personal bond. His release came a day after his arrest, which led to his appearance in court where he denied charges of illegal firearm possession.
Wanjigi’s defense team, led by Senior Counsel Paul Muite, argued that the arrest was unjust, stating it violated a previous court order that protected him from detention. They also claimed that the revocation of his firearm license, which was central to the charges, was done with ill intent and amounted to contempt of court.
The court has scheduled a hearing for September 12 to decide whether the charges against Wanjigi will be dropped.
