A series of upsets by the FKF Women Division One teams saw majority of FKF Women Premier League bow out of the inaugural FKF Women Cup played over the weekend.

In Mombasa, Sunderland Samba thrashed FKF Women Premier League side Mathare United Women 5-1 over the weekend to progress to the next round of the FKF Women Cup.

Winfrida Kerubo gave Sunderland Samba an early 12th-minute lead before the slum girls replied through Gladys Akoth to tie the match at 1-1 in the opening 15 minutes of play.

Samba took a surprise 2-1 lead at the breather after breaking the visitor’s hearts again with a 41st-minute strike-through Angela Mirenja.

In the second half, Farida Abubakar put the game out of reach for Mathare United after scoring the third goal in the 72nd minute Winfrida Kerubo and Faith Kerubo added late goals to seal a massive 5-1 win over the premier league outfit.

In Nairobi, Irene Namale bagged a brace as Kibera Soccer Ladies booked a spot in the round of 16 after claiming a 2-1 win against Kangemi Starlets.

Namale netted an early goal in the 5th minute to give Kibera Soccer Ladies the lead before getting his second in the 42nd minute before Fasili Adhiambo managed to bag a consolation goal for Kangemi Starlets in the 43rd minute.

In Embakasi, Mukuru Talent Academy knocked out Thika Queens after defeating them 2-0 as Eldoret Falcons bowed out at the hands of Nyuki Starlets after losing 4-1.

Nakuru West Queens joined Mathare, Thika, and Eldoret Falcons in the sidelines after losing 7-6 in post-match penalties to Bunyore Starlets.

In Mombasa, Elizabeth Khisa scored a brace as Zetech Sparks thrashed Mombasa Olympic 4-1 in a one-sided match played in Mombasa to progress to the next round of the inaugural FKF Women’s Cup.

The visitors took the lead after 10 minutes of play through their top scorer Khisa before club captain Puren Anyetu doubled the scores at the half-hour mark.

Faith Muchora capitalized on Olympic’s defensive mistake to make it 3-0 before the hosts pulled one goal back as Zetech took a healthy 3-1 lead at the breather.

Khisa would get his second goal of the day immediately after the restart to put the game beyond Olympic’s reach and eventually sealing a 4-1 away win that saw them progress to the next round of the cup competition.

Other matches saw SOLASA Queens lose 4-0 to S.E.P Ladies, Gaspo Women edge Msato Starlets 2-0 and Vihiga Queens thrash Royal Starlets 3-0.
