Top performers in the third edition of Eldoret City Marathon have walked away with millions of prize money as the race live up to its billing as the richest 42km race in Africa.

The top 20 athletes in the race held on June 6 this year were feted in a colourful award ceremony at the Eka Hotel in Eldoret on Friday morning.

Victor Kipchirchir, the winner in the men’s category and Mercy Kipchumba pocketed Sh3.5 million each.

Jambo Jet awarded the winners with a return ticket to any destination in the country.

Standard Group, which the marathon’s media partner was represented by broadcast managing director Joe Munene.

The award ceremony was graced by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, Race Director Moses Tanui and athletics Kenya Nairobi region Chairman Barnaba Korir.

The next edition has been scheduled for April 10, 2022.
