Kimilili Member of Parliament, Didmus Barasa, has revealed a photo of himself from a time when he served in the military. The controversial MP, known for his bold and often divisive actions, had a short stint in the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF).
Barasa’s time in the military was brief, lasting only one year and 76 days. His service came to an abrupt end due to allegations of absenteeism and forgery, which led to his dismissal. Despite this, Barasa has continued to reference his time in the military, often using the title “Captain” in his public and private life.
However, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) issued a warning to Barasa on October 1, 2021, cautioning him against misrepresenting his military rank. The anti-graft body accused Barasa of impersonating military officials, emphasizing that he only achieved the rank of Private during his short military career.
The photo that Barasa shared on his X account (formerly Twitter) provides a rare glimpse into his time in the KDF, a chapter of his life that remains a point of controversy.
