The Cricket Kenya Constitution stakeholders’ validation forum is currently underway at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.

The Cricket Kenya Constitution stakeholders’ validation forum is a culmination of the Normalisation Committee’s work to return normalcy in the local game.

Sports CS Amb. (Dr.) Amina Mohamed is expected to address the forum as well as the Sports Principal Secretary Joe Okudo and Dr.Tavengwa Mukuhlani, the International Cricket Council (ICC) representative.

Speaking during the event kick-off, International Cricket Council (ICC) representative Dr. Tavengwa Mukuhlani said the nation must put its house in order to run her affairs properly.
“ICC has for the last time extended the Olive branch to Kenya. Kenya has a choice to make today, be part of the international game of go into oblivion,” Dr. Tavengwa Mukuhlani said.
“Kenya must put its house in order, hold elections and run her affairs properly. The world will continue moving on without Kenya. We have done so in the last few years. We hope you can make the right call and join us.
“Take advantage of the goodwill the ICC chair has extended to Kenya. Success and failure of Cricket Kenya is in your hands, take advantage.”

The Normalisation Committee chaired by Hon. Lady Justice (Rtd) Joyce Aluoch was appointed on March 16 this year by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed to resolve leadership wrangles within the cricket body.

The Committee comprises:  Hon. Lady Justice (Rtd) Joyce Aluoch, Hon. Justice (Rtd) Alnashir Visram (Vice-Chair), Jane Muigai-Kampuis (Member), Morris Aluanga (Member), Walter Ongeti (Member).

The Secretariat Committee members include; Jaxon Indakwa, Rizpha Mukonyo, Mercy Oiro and Caroline Kariuki.

The mandate of the Committee is to:

–              Coordinate the finalization of the Draft Constitution and ensure its validation in line with the requirements of the Sports Act 2013 and the ICC Statutes;

–              Ensure smooth running of Cricket Kenya’s operations including team preparations for local and international events;

–              Coordinate and facilitate the compliance of Cricket Kenya to the ICC requirements;

–              Facilitate the elections of new officials as per the validated Constitution;

–              Hand over Cricket Kenya to newly elected officials after a successful election ;

–              Recommend to the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage long lasting solutions to the problems facing Cricket Kenya;
