CONFIRMED: Premier League club sacks manager

Premier League side West Bromwich Albion have sacked manager Slaven Bilic after guiding the Baggies to just one win from their 13 Premier League matches in the 2020/21 season.

“West Bromwich Albion have today parted company with Head Coach Slaven Bilic.

“Albion would like to thank Slaven and his coaching staff for their efforts in achieving promotion last season and wishes them all well in the future.

“The club will make no further comment at this time, the club said in a statement seen by The Standard Sport.

Assistant Coaches, Dean Racunica and Danilo Butorovic, and First Team Coach Julian Dicks have also left the club with immediate effect.

The Baggies are currently 19th in the Premier League table with seven points from 13 fixtures.

Man City were held again in the Premier League as West Brom snatched a 1-1 draw thanks to Ruben Dias’ own goal on Tuesday.

Bilic said Albion’s Premier League point at City is a reward for the players “giving their best”.

He said after the match: “We are giving our best and tonight we got the reward.

“I would be as proud if City scored right at the end. We would be flat in the dressing room and we would have been unlucky.

“That’s why it’s important to get the reward of a point.

“I said to the guys that the best thing from this game wasn’t just the point, but the performance and the determination we showed.

“We were willing to die for each other on the pitch tonight.

“That’s what we have to do in every game. Is it easy? No it’s not. But we have to try.

“Defensively we were very good. We were 1v1 with De Bruyne, Sterling and Gabriel Jesus. Our 1v1 defending was very good, perhaps our best of the season.

“Nobody expected us to get a point here, but we believed.

“You can play and lose three or four nil here. But we played well and we’ve got a point to show for it.”
